Richard Serra : Drawings

Paul Coulon is pleased to announce an exhibition of works on paper by Richard Serra. Presenting an overview of the artist’s graphic work, this show brings together important works from several series to examine Serra’s diverse drawing practice.

 

From the mid-1970s Drawing has always played an important role for Serra, who refers to drawing as a foundation of his work and a source of his artistic creativity. Included in the exhibition is the monumental work from 1982, Rail Box Vertical, alongside a selection of more recent drawings.

 

Serra’s drawings have been the subject of museum shows at the Bonnefantenmuseum, Maastricht (1990), The Serpentine Gallery, London (1992), Kunsthaus Bregenz, Bregenz (2008), Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen, Rotterdam (2017) and a major travelling retrospective at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, and the Menil Collection, Houston, (2011 and 2012).
